What is the location and format of the lessons?

I teach violin lessons on Central Ave in Jersey City. Lessons are 1:1 in person. I recommend having weekly lessons to establish consistency and progress.

Do I need to own my own instrument?

I provide the violin for the first free trial lesson. If you are unsure about whether or not violin is the right instrument for you, I recommend renting violins from local shops. Once committed to learning violin, I can guide you through the process of selecting and caring for your own personal instrument.

What age/experience do you teach?

Students as young as 5 can start as long as they know their numbers and letters. I recommend starting with half hour weekly lessons for younger kids. It is helpful when there is a parent at home to guide practice for younger kids. Custom lesson notes will be provided at the end of every lesson. On the other hand, it’s never too late to learn violin! I accept students of all levels, whether you have no experience or are looking to prepare for auditions and competitions.

What are your expectations for me?

Show up on time to lessons. In case of cancellation, please give 24 hours notice to reschedule. Rescheduled lessons are subjected to availability. I allow for flexibility in cases of unavoidable circumstances.

You get what you put in. I expect that students practice at home in addition to weekly lessons. Habits are not built without consistency and patience. Depending on your goals, we will set weekly practice check ins to make sure progress continues at home.
